The food they served was rotten and I spoke to the server about this matter but he didnt apologize and said it was supposed to taste like rotten. I brought my parents, but the owner (the lady manager) treated us very poorly. The workers here were very rude and disrespectful even when you are trying to be understanding and respectful to them. I was very disappointed because I had high expectations but they had terrible customer service. Treat your customers better it's not a hard concept as a restaurant In short, the lady manager has a huge pride problem that needs to be checked. Luckily after a little more back and forth they finally decided to not charge us for the item, but just the whole experience was condescending and crazy to see in the modern restaurant scene.

I was taken aback by the sheer balls of this woman, but The Lion, The Witch, and the audacity of this Bit- coming to our table and implying that we were the ones that had no sense of taste left a sour taste in our mouths literally and figuratively.

Then after some back and forth explaining that there was definitely something wrong with the dish as I've had the same dish at other restaurants with no issues, the lady manager came over and proceeded to lecture my table about how the food should taste and that there is no problem. However, when I had some problems with one of the dishes tasting a bit off/the ingredients tasting old, the waiter went to the kitchen and came back explaining that there was nothing wrong with the dish. What makes this review bittersweet is that some of their food was pretty good. After reading some other reviews, I understand the situation even better. And that's a wise move, considering that the City of Black Hawk is eyeing ways to attract a younger demographic, including a project called Artisans' Point that would draw in new distilleries and breweries.I waited to leave a review until my annoyance and anger calmed down, but even after sleeping on it, I still feel that the restaurant's staff behavior was way out of line. While most of the high-end dining choices in the area focus on steakhouse fare - including the Monarch's own Monarch Chophouse - Bistro Mariposa's menu reads more like something you'd find in downtown Denver. There are also shareable small plates like queso fundido with chorizo and crispy oyster mushrooms ($15) and larger entrees that range from fajitas ($31-$35) to an $81 bone-in ribeye with chimichurri and salsa macha. High-end tequila and local craft beers round out the boozy options. The offerings include five takes on tacos, including butter-poached lobster ($23 for three) and carne asada ($18 for three). The fine-dining restaurant opened last week with a menu of elevated Southwestern cuisine. One major downside, though, has been the limited dining choices available.Īs part of a major expansion that began in 2020, Monarch Casino Resort Spa recently debuted one new option for hungry visitors to Black Hawk: Bistro Mariposa.

Just a 45-minute drive from downtown Denver, Black Hawk is a convenient escape from the city - especially if you enjoy gambling.
